Coming September 12-- Galatians through Colossians

In September I will being teaching Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians at Church of the Holy Spirit--on Sunday nights. This will be a deep and detailed study of these four books. To coincide with this I will be posting each week the nuts and bolts of the study on this blog. If you are local and wish to come more details will be forthcoming. If you want to follow along via the blog please do so. Questions for thought and action will be a part of each week's study.

Bible, Theology, Jesus and Mission

This site is motivated by a current day lack of knowledge in the realms of the bible and theology. The goal is to take a serious look at the Scriptures through both commentary on books of the Bible and the theology that comes out of that. The end game is the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.

The irony of the matter is that in our current day there are more tools available to us than ever before when it comes to study. Alas, here is just one more tool added to the mix. However, if it can help even and few people live out the truths of Scripture then I am happy.

I am absolutely convinced we must tackle the Scriptures and theology with integrity. Truth matters. Doctrine matters. The Bible matters. What matters more is actually doing the word. Not too few have a great handle on truth in their heads yet seem not to be able to (or don't want to) put into practice what they know.

In brief then this blog will seek to assist people in a deeper knowledge combined with practical application that will hopefully motivate more of us to take doing the word much more seriously.

We all need help in two areas: 1. Correcting our thinking (having our minds transformed by Scripture). 2. Correcting our actions (loving God and people biblically).

One caution: The goal here is not to worship the Bible or theology. The Pharisees were good at that. Jesus told them: "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me." The goal here is to drive us to Jesus (and the other members of the Trinity) and from there to everyone around us. May God help us on the journey.
